Sainskita.com<\/strong><\/a> - Jam kerja panjang meningkatkan risiko kematian. Hal tersebut terungkap berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) dan Organisasi Buruh Sedunia.<\/p>\n

Studi tersebut diterbitkan di Jurnal Environment International<\/em>, dan diklaim sebagai analisis global pertama tentang hilangnya nyawa akibat jam kerja panjang.<\/p>\n

Pada 2016, statistik terbaru yang ditampilkan dalam penelitian tersebut, diperkirakan 398.000 orang meninggal karena stroke dan 347.000 karena penyakit jantung sebagai akibat langsung dari bekerja setidaknya 55 jam seminggu.<\/p>\n

Saat ini, 8,9 persen populasi dunia bekerja dengan jam kerja yang panjang, yang didefinisikan sebagai 55 jam per minggu atau lebih.<\/p>\n

Asia Tenggara memiliki persentase orang yang bekerja dengan jam kerja panjang tertinggi, sedangkan Eropa memiliki persentase paling sedikit.<\/p>\n

Perlu juga dicatat bahwa jumlah orang yang menjalani jam kerja panjang meningkat secara substansial antara tahun 2010 dan 2016.<\/p>\n

Peningkatan jam kerja ini dikatakan sebagai cerminan dari ekonomi pertunjukan dan ketidakpastian ekonomi. Juga ditunjukkan bahwa ponsel cerdas dan laptop telah memupuk budaya kerja baru, di mana orang tidak pernah bisa benar-benar \"berhenti bekerja\".<\/p>\n

Selain itu, pandemi COVID-19 hanya akan memperdalam tren ini melalui ketidakstabilan ekonomi lebih lanjut dan perubahan budaya kerja lainnya, seperti tindakan \"bekerja dari rumah\".<\/p>\n

Bahkan setelah wabah penyakit dapat dikendalikan, banyak dari pola perilaku yang tidak sehat ini cenderung bertahan.<\/p>\n

\u201cPandemi COVID-19 telah mengubah cara kerja banyak orang secara signifikan,\u201d kata Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Direktur Jenderal WHO, seperti dilansir dari IFLSience<\/em><\/a>, Kamis (20\/5\/2021).<\/p>\n

\u201cTeleworking telah menjadi norma di banyak industri, seringkali mengaburkan batasan antara rumah dan pekerjaan. Selain itu, banyak bisnis terpaksa mengurangi atau menghentikan operasi untuk menghemat uang, dan orang-orang yang masih dalam daftar gaji akhirnya bekerja lebih lama. Tidak ada pekerjaan yang sebanding dengan risiko stroke atau penyakit jantung. Pemerintah, pengusaha dan pekerja perlu bekerja sama untuk menyetujui batasan untuk melindungi kesehatan pekerja,\" jelasnya.<\/p>\n

Jika tren ini berlanjut, maka akan menyebabkan masalah yang lebih dalam bagi kesehatan global. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, para peneliti berpendapat bahwa pemerintah perlu memperkenalkan, menerapkan, dan menegakkan kebijakan yang melarang kerja lembur wajib dan memastikan batas maksimum waktu kerja.<\/p>\n
